I would like to take a moment to publicly thank Sheriff David Bartlett for his support of outdoor education and the sporting community. Hunting, fishing, and the outdoors have been part of my lifestyle for many, many years and for the past several years, I have been a NYS Hunter Education Instructor. Throughout this time, I have become friends with David and have witnessed firsthand his support for our communities. I have the pleasure and privilege of working with dozens of families in Columbia County who share my view of the importance of youth and family oriented education programs and I recognize we are very fortunate to have a Sheriff who understands these things and is a dedicated to protecting and serving the County. The value of good interaction between law enforcement and citizens is well understood among most in Columbia County and Sheriff Bartlett has helped foster this. He has provided uniformed deputies for many of the hunter education classes as well as for mentoring aspiring hunters. He is always there to support youth and their families through safety and education. The entire Columbia County Sheriff’s office is to be commended for their good work in our communities, whether it be keeping lawbreakers off the streets or having a face-to-face conversation and encouraging word with young and old.
